Window Blinds of the Future
Blinds have required little innovation over the years. With the likes of Roman and vertical blinds remaining mostly unchanged centuries after their invention, blinds are one the few inventions that work as effectively now as they did during their inception.
Of course, many modern improvements have come since then. Textiles and materials have changed, while newer concepts such as thermal and blackout fabrics have helped to offer some nice benefits for blinds.
Yet as technology continues to advance at its already staggering rate, it’s safe to say the window blinds of the future could feature some incredible innovations that offer even more advantages. Plus, that future may not be too far off as many may think!
Solar-Panel Blinds
A prime example of the incredible technological advancements made in just a short time, solar panels are now readily available for homes and businesses around the world, offering an eco-friendly power source that is becoming even cheaper to implement.
Now, the future of solar power and blinds will surely come together. There are already early concepts in production, with blinds being fitted with small solar panels, allowing them to absorb energy during the day to help reduce energy bills.
This makes perfect sense when you consider the amount of sunlight windows are exposed to. Just imagine blinds of the future where the slats are fitted with solar panels that automatically track the sunlight to solar power.
Projection Blinds
Even the most stylish blinds can get quite boring to look at when they are constantly lowered. Just imagine blinds that could project all manner of cool images, from sunshine in the sky to twinkling stars littering the night’s sky.
Much like mood lights can set a nice ambience in a room, protection blinds could project all manner of images to create the perfect setting in a room. While there is no such product currently available, it’s a cool concept we hope is available in the future.
Smart Blinds
When it comes to the future of window blinds, there is one concept that is very much in the near future – smart blinds.
As homes become fully connected, it’s becoming more possible to improve our homes and routines with the assistance of smart produces. Smart blinds allow blinds to become fully automated, with every blind capable of being controlled independently or collectively from a mobile device such as a smartphone.
This allows you to set the blinds to raise or lower at any time you require, allowing to better manage light control and insulation, even if you aren’t at home. You can set daily and weekly schedules, while features such as sun tracking allows the blinds to work according to the position of the sun.
Best of all, smart blinds can be charged using solar energy, making them an eco-friendly investment!
